WHERE WE STARTED
In the wake of the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and others, named and unnamed, a great uprising for Black Lives swept the nation and the world, inciting a revived urgency and radical possibilities for advancing abolitionists practice and uprooting institutional racism. As I watched the many BLM protests that were happening all over the world, I realized that the majority of those participating were my age group, also called generation Z, a generation of “we”. As a generation, we have a natural tendency to make a difference and with the technologies available to us, it provides the perfect opportunity to put an end to injustice. This urgency for a sense of unity against the oppression of African Americans, caught my interest and prompted the idea to educate the students of The Study on the Black Lives Matter movement to create a much needed alliance.
